October 2010
Meeting: Saturday,
October 16th. We are set
for a 10:30 Tour of Bernie Taulborg's 8 building, 165 +
Private car collection. Yes, this is quite a collection of cars and it
is local.. For those that have seen it before, there is a few new cars
and more memorabilia, and for those that have not, it is an opportunity
to see a private collection unlike any others you may have seen
before.
From the early 1900
's to fairly recent, Mr. Taulborg's collection will extensively display
the early 20's and 30's, with a large collection of convertibles,
British manufactures and some very rare unheard of cars by builders you
have not heard of. No, this is not a Mucscle car collection, and Yes,
this
tour is the same day as the TEXAS VS NEBRASKA football game... but the
time set for the tour should allow those to make their other
football acommitments.
1. We meet
at the Dillon Bro Harley Davidson Dealership (177th Maple) at 9:45 and
depart for the tour promptly at 10:15. Mr. Taulborg wants us to show up
all together, therefore anyone showing up after the 10:15 departure
time will get left behind without directions.
2. Tour starts at 10:30 AM with an estimated 1 1/2 tour. (multiple
buildings, climate controlled, NOT a good place for small children).
3. Immediately following the tour we will caravan to the TROPICS bar
which is just South & East off Maple at 168th. Parking is
supposed to be roped off to accommodate protecting our cars, so drive
the good ones.
Greg will conduct on our meeting and those that wish to eat can do so.
( Football weekend menu ) and the food is reasonable and very good.
4.
Anyone wishing to stay for the game may do so with having already
secured seating. Lots of TVs and Big Screens..If you have other friends
outside the Heartland Club that might enjoy this tour, please feel free
to invite them, but please be sure to RSVP with those numbers.
Although this is a
free tour, Mr. Taulborg is a member of the Shriners
and asks that, those who can, contribute to a collection bottle at the
end of the tour. Mr. Taulborg does not need the money, as you will see,
and the entire $$ collection goes to the Shriner's organization. You'll
also be asked to sign in and provide which car is your favorite, so
keep this in mind as you make your way through his beautiful collection
of cars, trucks and memorabilia.
